"It's angsty, it's swoony, it's unbelievably sexy... It's one of those that you pick up, become completely captivated by, and you look around hours later and go, 'Whoa...' Those books? Those are the very best kind and FURIOUS RUSH was that for me."--Southern Belle Book Blog "I WAS FLOATING IN FEELS THE WHOLE STORY. This touching and turbulent tale tugged my heart every step of the way, stomping on it and then stitching it back together several times."--Bookalicious Babes Blog The first book in a new series by the #1 bestselling author of the Thoughtless novels... Mackenzie Cox has a lot to prove. Daughter of a racing legend, she is eager to show the world that she has inherited her father's talent in the male-dominated sport of professional motorcycle racing. The last thing Kenzie needs is to be antagonized by her rival team's newest rider, Hayden Hayes. Plucked from the world of illegal street racing, Hayden immediately gets under Kenzie's skin. His insinuations that Kenzie is a spoiled princess who was handed her career fuels her desire to win, and much to her surprise, Kenzie soon learns she performs better when she's racing against Hayden. As Kenzie and Hayden push each other on the track, the electric energy between them off the track shifts into an intense--and strictly forbidden--attraction. The only rule between their two ultra-competitive teams is zero contact. Kenzie always does her best to play by the rules, but when her team slips into a financial crisis, she has no choice but to turn to Hayden for help. The tension simmers during their secret, late-night rendezvous, but Kenzie has too much to lose to give in to her desires. Especially when she begins to doubt that Hayden has completely left his street life behind...

Combining a broad analysis of political culture with a particular focus on rhetoric and strategy, Jeffrey Sawyer analyzes the role of pamphlets in the political arena in seventeenth-century France. During the years 1614-1617 a series of conflicts occurred in France, resulting from the struggle for domination of Louis XIII's government. In response more than 1200 pamphlets--some printed in as many as eighteen editions--were produced and distributed. These pamphlets constituted the political press of the period, offering the only significant published source of news and commentary. Sawyer examines key aspects of the impact of pamphleteering: the composition of the targeted public and the ways in which pamphlets were designed to affect its various segments, the interaction of pamphlet printing and political action at the court and provincial levels, and the strong connection between pamphlet content and assumptions on the one hand and the evolution of the French state on the other. His analysis provides new and valuable insights into the rhetoric and practice of politics. Sawyer concludes that French political culture was shaped by the efforts of royal ministers to control political communication. The resulting distortions of public discourse facilitated a spectacular growth of royal power and monarchist ideology and influenced the subsequent history of French politics well into the Revolutionary era. The highly anticipated and epic conclusion to the Chasing Red duology "Red," Caleb whispered. "Do you know how I felt when you left me?" I looked into his eyes. The emotion I saw in them, the intensity, and the tenderness filled up my throat. "I felt ruined. Because, Red, every time you break me apart, you put me back together. And I always come out better than before." "So," he cupped my face, stroking my cheek with his thumb. "Ruin me." Chasing Red Duology: Chasing Red (Book 1) Always Red (Book 2) Praise for Chasing Red: "Chasing Red is a perfectly sweet romance, with just the right amount of spice."—Foreword Reviews "Readers will be chomping at the bit while waiting for the next installment!"—RT Book Reviews "Readers will swoon over Caleb."—Publishers Weekly

The external charm of the Coliseum has recently been spoilt by the cutting down of all the trees and destruction of the beautiful pomegranate gardens on the lower slope of the Esquiline, and the erection in their place of the most hideous and gigantic houses... -from Walks in Rome English aristocrat Augustus J.C. Hare filled his days with trips to the Continent, and returned home to share his journeys with eager readers-and the journals of his travels still enjoy a cultishly devoted readership today. His Walks in Rome was first published in 1871; this replica of the 15th edition, from 1900, offers a virtual walking tour of: . the Corso and its neighborhood, including the Piazza del Popolo, the Temple of Neptune, and the Fountain of Trevia . the Forums and the Coliseum, including the Temple of Mars, the House of the Vestals, and the Arch of Constantine . the Palatine, including the Palace of Caligula and the House of Hortensius . and much more. Charmingly enthusiastic and obsessively detailed, this guidebook continues to be invaluable for today's travelers, and for those fascinated by the ongoing metamorphosis of a modern metropolis. Also available from Cosimo Classics: Hare's Sketches in Holland and Scandinavia. British travel writer Augustus John Culbert Hare (1834-1903) also wrote Epitaphs for Country Churchyards (1856) and Wanderings in Spain (1873).

Enemies or lovers? Liam, a successful young lawyer, is allergic to love. He’s always between business trips and, devastated by a dark secret, he has put a lock on his heart. That’s the way he likes it. But when he crosses paths with Zoe, all his principles fly out the window. Zoe is the opposite of his usual conquests: natural, funny, impetuous... and she has no plans to make room in her life for a man. *** I watch her delicate hands work over my torso, becoming intoxicated by her scent rising to meet me from her neck. “I’m so sorry,” she insists, now scrubbing the fabric with concentration, taking breaks to dab her forehead with her arm. She’s damaging my designer shirt. Instead of pointing that out to her, I observe her every movement. I surprise her a few times as she nibbles her thumb. A habit that reveals how nervous she actually is. “I’ll pay for the dry cleaning, of course. And free coffee for a week.” I don't reply. I resist the temptation to run my hand through her long, silky hair. I find her beautiful: her fragility, embarrassment, simplicity. “A month?” she offers, obviously worried by my silence. “It’s fine for the coffee. A week and we’re even,” I reassure her. "For the dry cleaning, I'll take care of it. Don’t worry about the clothes. It could happen to anyone.” She stops and looks at me, smiling, relieved by my pacifist reaction. “I think your shirt is ruined,” she announces, nibbling her lower lip. “Yeah, I think you’re right about that!” I agree, laughing. I’m speechless when she starts working on my pants, kneeling down between my legs. Is this a joke? I thought this kind of thing only happened in movies! Except there’s nothing funny about the position. On the contrary. The pressure she’s putting on my crotch awakens sensations in my entire body. My imagination becomes quickly uncontrollable. I want her. Forbidden thoughts start to creep into my mind. To touch her. Caress her. Kiss her. She suddenly stops, as if she had heard my inappropriate thoughts. Time stands still for a second, and the noise of the café customers dies down. Here we are, the two of us, completely isolated from the rest of the world. *** After the success of Challenge Me, Avril Rose is back with a funny and touching romance told by two distinct voices.
